Poor Quality August 23, 2010 Lee J Poor quality construction, after 3 days the cheap aluminum cracked, split, and collapsed in a twisted pretzel. Would recommend not having anything to do with the Quik Shade company or and especially this product!
Not easy to set up July 6, 2010 Front Row (Chicago) This canopy is not easiest to set up. The telescopic posts tend to stick, the buttons are troublesome to push in and accordian style frame needs two people to pull apart. Following the directions wasn't much help either. The instructions state to put on the canopy after pulling the frame out most of the way. The canopy is so tight, it is cumbersome to pull the frame out once the canopy is in place. After using this twice, two posts are bent. The canopy is heavy, thus it holds up in some wind but a strong gust will knock it over if it is not secured to the ground. The item is priced cheap and so is the quality.
Don't Use in Rain! June 5, 2010 Kristen Miller (VA, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Purchased this canopy for my son's youth group. The company's website says it is good for camping, and we took it camping. The first day we had it up, it stormed for about 30 minutes, so we sought shelter in our cars. When we returned to our campsite, we discovered that the canopy had collapsed under the weight of rain that had pooled under the roof. At least two of the legs were severely bent and the metal had split. We reasoned that rain pools on the roof because there are no solid supports extending from the corners to the roof. We were able to perform a make-shift repair using lots of duck tape and our flag poles as splints, but it was destroyed when we took it down. Unfortunately, the company says I am not eligible for a warranty repair. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT USE THIS CANOPY IF RAIN IS IN THE FORECAST. I recommend spending a little more money and getting an all weather canopy from another manufacturer.
great canopy if used right May 22, 2010 Eric The Red 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had one of these for several years. The first time i put it up i didnt realize you have to push up the center post, so it collected rain.
If you push up the center post until it locks, then the canopy is very taught and the rain will shed right off.
unfortunately for me, mine was lost in a sudden desert wind storm with 50 mph winds, but that was my fault for not taking it down when i saw the storm coming. duh
Excellent Product May 13, 2010 Marc Petz (Michigan) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this item here at Amazon, and when it arrived, I opened it up and noticed that it had some shipping damage. Amazon was very pleasant to deal with, and they took care of the problem in a very timely manner.
The quality of this particular product is very good compared to other similar products out there. I also own a smaller and older EZ-UP canopy, and I feel that the Quik Shade is much better. The one thing that you must keep in mind to ensure many years of use, for any instant canopy, is to never let it sit through a rain storm or very strong winds. Theses canopies are not made to withstand those kind of elements.
The Weekender 144 is a pretty large instant canopy so setting it up with one person can be a challenge. I would use two people whenever possible. It also best to completely remove the canopy cover when its time to put it away. This will keep the cover from getting pinched by the trusses over time.
I am very happy with this canopy.
