4 out of 5 stars Did what it was supposed to do   August 28, 2010

Quick review: This arbor is less expensive than a pop up canopy, takes about 10min to assemble, and it protects you from the elements like it's supposed to. It blew away once and a fiberglass rod broke, but that could be attributed to the fact that there were gusty winds on the mountaintop.

Detailed review: I bought this arbor to take on a 4 day camping/festival trip in west virginia. We were camped on the side of Marvin's Mountaintop, pretty high up. The weather was lovely all weekend (sunny and upper 80degrees) but there was some rain and gusty wind. I was told the arbor blew away once (I was not at camp when it happened), so we probably should have staked it down better, but I don't know if it blew away due to our under-staking or because the winds were so strong. Either way, I was present during the multiple instances of rain and there were no leaks or bulging spots for water to collect. The arbor was very easy to assemble, it's just a little more involved than a pop-up canopy because there are multiple poles, so you have to figure out which size pole goes where. One of the fiberglass rods broke when the arbor blew away, but we duct taped it and it held up perfectly well. I checked the warranty and the fiberglass poles are not covered, which may bother some people; I don't care because I know our duct tape splint will hold up just fine. Overall- I highly recommend this arbor, but stake it down well if there are chances of gusty winds.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy TexSport   July 11, 2010

Avoid Texsport products. The arbor I bought didn't arrive with the correct parts and then disintegrated after one summer of use. Extremely disappointing when the family is counting on some shade and your canopy has collapsed on the ground.

1 out of 5 stars Lite and compact, but otherwise junk   July 13, 2009

Loved this canopy when it arrived because it was light, easy to take in car, and set up fairly easily. But using it at the beach with only calm winds was disasterous. After the first use, the salt air started to corrode the chome-like pieces holding the frame pieces together. On the second use, despite staking it with 8 stakes, it blew over and shattered the nylon piece holding the corner frame pieces in place. No other canopies on the beach had any problem with the gentle wind that day.
The only good thing was that Amazon took the thing back (within 10 days) and we got an EZ Up which is working very well.
Don't use this product near any kind of wind or salt air!

1 out of 5 stars one star was for delivery   June 17, 2009

Bought the item for the beach, but was planning to use it for backyard party on memorial day. Went to set it up and the anchors were missing. Was still going to keep it so called the company the next buisness day.The operator switched me to someones voice mail. I called back asking to speak with someone from customer service she advised me to leave a message.I said never mind in todays enconomy I insist on good cutomer service for my money.
Amazon made return painless.Product might have been used or returned and sent to me, it just looked okay.

1 out of 5 stars Poor quality, long setup   June 12, 2009
Usually a happy buyer (Houston TX)
Sunshade broke after first use. The poles snapped under mild wind conditions. The product is more like a tent than a popup canopy and requires two people about 10-15 minutes to setup.

We paid a little extra for this thinking it was of higher quality. We were wrong. I would not recommend this product.
